Obituary - Jim Anderson
Monday, October 5, 2015
The Morgan world lost one of its great innovators and promoters with the passing of Jim Anderson on September 22, 2015. Jim and then wife Ann Anderson set the standard at their Hobby Knoll Stables in Duxbury, MA. Some of the stars on the endless list of champions under the Hobby Knoll banner included the likes of world champions The Buckeye, Royal Fleetson, Topfield’s Janet, Cara Lee, Lady’s Enticement, and Montbelle Rosalie.
Recognizing the need for a place for people to market Morgan horses and make money, in 1984 Jim added a new dimension in HK Sales Company. He conducted several major dispersals and public auctions across the country with numerous record sale prices achieved.
Following his move to Florida in the 1990s, Jim retired from training but could often be found on the rail at horse shows and never far from his many good friends in the show horse industry. Jim Anderson will be remembered for his talents as a horseman, a businessman and a friend.
Saddle Horse Report will publish a tribute to Jim Anderson in a future issue.
