Jacqueline "Jackie" Siegel died Oct. 23, 2008, following a short illness. She was 84. A homemaker, but mostly a mom, a friend and a love to all who knew her, Siegel left behind five children, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Among her children, Howie Schatzberg and Sue Schatzberg are well known throughout the horse world as is her grandson Casey McBride. She was the former wife of Jack Schatzberg.

"She was the greatest," said Howie. "She never saw bad in anyone. Mom always found the best in everyone. Even when I would admit to doing something wrong she would say, ‘Now Howie, I’m sure you didn’t mean it.’"
