Obituary - Hester I. Kerr



SPRINGFIELD, IL - Hester Isabel Lamb Kerr of Springfield died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008.

She was born July 9, 1911, in Illiopolis, Illinois, the only daughter of Ira Francis and Nellie Elizabeth Waterman Lamb.

She attended Taylorville schools and in 1932 moved to Springfield and married Edward F. Kerr; he preceded her in death in 1994.

She was the mother of two children, Susan G. Kerr of Springfield and Charles E. Kerr of Chicago, both survive; and had several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold B. Lamb.

Hester owned her own insurance, real estate and oil bond business and later worked for the state of Illinois Veterans Commission and the secretary of state. She retired from Bisch Funeral Homes in 2002, at the age of 91.

Hester had been a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1932.

A memorial celebration will be held Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen St., with visitation and socializing from 1 p.m. until time of services at 2 p.m.
