Obituary - David M. Patton

David M. Patton of Hubertus, Born April 29, 1948 in Huntington, West Virginia and passed away Thursday, September 10), 2015 at the age of 67. David and his wife of 34 years, moved to Wisconsin in 1975 to pursue a very successful career, training American Saddlebred Show Horses. The couple worked at Stony Hill Stables, Oakwood Farms and their own Northern Venture Farms. The Patton’s had numerous world and national champion horses and riders. Dave received the lifetime achievement award from the American Saddlebred Association of Wisconsin. Dave was inducted into the U.P.H.A. Hall of Fame in 2008, having been a past president of the United Professional Horseman’s Association.

Dave was preceded in death by his father Dan M. Patton in 1993 and beloved wife Sarah Patton (nee Board) in 2009. He is survived by his mother Joanne MacDonald of Louisville, KY; his Aunt Charlotte Patton of Huntington, WV; brother Dan M. (Robin) Patton, of Louisa, VA; brother Joel (Connie) Patton of Smyrna, GA; nephews Brian and Daniel Patton, both of Atlanta, GA.  Dave is also remembered by Fran Patton and Francie Workman, both of Gallipolis, OH; Rick (Linda) Harris and Jack (Peggy) Harris, all of Proctorville, OH; Mike (Cheryl) Harris of Tampa, FL; Gordon (Gail) MacDonald of Concord, NH and David (Jan) MacDonald of Lakewood, WI.

Dave Patton was a proud friend of Bill W since 1988.

Dave’s original funeral plan included an evening visitation from 4 to 7 PM. Just before he passed away, he switched the plans to morning only. Ever a humble soul…and because of the outpouring of  love and emotion, the family is adding a visitation Tuesday, September 29 from 4 to 7 PM back to the funeral arrangements.

Additional visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 30 from 10 AM until the time of memorial service at 11 AM. A reception will follow at the Funeral Home.

If desired, memorials in Dave’s memory to the American Saddlebred Horse Museum, Spring Valley Presbyterian Church or the Huntington Foundation, West Virginia would be appreciated.
