Obituary – Charl Hertzog

The entire show horse community was stunned by the news of the shooting and subsequent death of the Albert Hertzog family’s son, Charl, age 23. His roommate in Prospect, Kentucky, confessed to shooting Hertzog, saying it was accidental.
While he had shown many horses back home in South Africa, Charl was starting a new career here in the states. In a report from WLKY, his sister Cayla said he worked on barges on the Ohio river with dreams of becoming a captain.
The Hertzog family will hold a memorial service for Charl at Snowpine Stables, Woodstock, Illinois, on October 21 at 11:00 a.m. CST. They ask that those wishing to attend please RSVP to (502) 794-5118.
