Obituary: Carl Julian Jenkins

Carl J. Jenkins, 89, of Suwanee, Ga., a long-time road horse exhibitor and enthusiast, died Feb. 4. He is survived by wife Frances Jenkins, two brothers, Charles and Robert Jenkins, three sons, Larry, Bob, and Bucky Jenkins, five grandchildren, Robin, Cathy, Julianne, Lori, and Shannon, and five great-grandchildren.

Jenkins was a Mason and a member of 391 F.A.M. in Raytown, Mo. and was a member of Yarrab Temple in Atlanta, Ga., and a Shriner. He was a retired sales manager for Dunlop Tire & Rubber company after 27 years of service. He also worked for Pan American Tire Company of Miami, Fla., and Havana, Cuba. He was a member of the Suwanee, Ga., First Baptist Church.

Jenkins was nationally known as an exhibitor, owner, and trainer of roadster show horses. He was a member of the American Road Horse and Pony Associations Hall of Fame; member of the Southeastern Charity Horse Show Hall of Fame. He was an AHSA Senior judge and officiated at over 300 horse shows.
