New England Morgan Horse Show Update

Regardless of Mother Nature's plans, the last week of July promises to be hot, hot, hot in Northampton, MA as the 65th edition of the New England Morgan Horse Show unfolds. A record number of entries have been received for this year's show, and stalls are sold out as of this writing, therefore entries are officially closed. The increase in entries is attributed in part to the Pinnacle Program prize money available in the East Coast Championship classes, the $10,000 winner take all Amateur English Pleasure Championship, and the return of the Morgan Breeders Sweepstakes to New England. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of Debra Lane and Robin Rednor Veghte, sponsorships for this year's show are also expected to reach record levels. The Pinnacle Program, which debuted in 2003, has been expanded this year to provide $3,000 to the winner and $1,500 to reserve in each of the 12 East Coast Championship classes. The Remember November Sale conducted by Peggy Alderman, Rick Lane and Rick Stevens in November 2002 generously donated $30,000 to NEMHS, to be used for the $10,000 winner take all Amateur English Pleasure Championship in 2003, 2004 and 2005. This phenomenal class will be held the last evening of the show, and promises to draw a ring full of top horses and standing room only crowd as it did last year. New England Morgan is especially pleased to welcome the $70,000 Morgan Breeders Sweepstakes back to Northampton. This prestigious event, which attracts weanlings from across the country, will be held Thursday night. In addition to the topnotch competition, the evening will be rounded out with a gala party and the NEMHS Benefit Auction. The NEMHS Committee and management thank everyone who has so generously supported the show this year either through entries or financial support, and look forward to seeing everyone in Northampton July 25-31.
