Midwest Charity Adds Classes



The Midwest Charity Horse Show held June 11-15, 2013, at the Illinois State Fairgrounds is adding to its schedule, class 29A, Fine Harness, Amateur, Lady Driver as well as splitting the Five Gaited Stallion and Gelding, Open to include class 72A for the geldings and class 82 for the stallions.

Midwest has always been known for its innovation and forward thinking. To that end Midwest is making the Livestock Arena, across from the Party Barn, Barn 25Q available as an additional place to work horses and ponies. Midwest also announces a new major sponsor in Steak ‘N Shake. Steak ‘N Shake, famous for their fresh made steakburgers and hand dipped milkshakes, came on board this year as a corporate sponsor.

Midwest’s distinguished panel of judges includes Fran Crumpler, Simpsonville, KY; Nelson Green, Nicholasville, KY; and Ricky Harris, Somers, CT. Official Photographer is Doug Shiflet; and Official Videographer is Seehorse Video.

Midwest Charity will not disappoint in delighting and entertaining its exhibitors with their legendary nightly parties, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday nights, after the last class in the famous “Party Barn” decorated with Persian rugs, chandeliers, colorful tablecloths and flowers. Tuesday’s party, sponsored by Glenn A. Werry, Jr.’s, Glenmore Farm, will feature Susan Kerr’s famous homemade chicken salad and Honey Baked Ham. Wednesday’s party, sponsored by Laura Gralton and A Friend of the ASB, will be catered by Springfield’s own Poe’s Catering and will feature pulled pork. Thursday’s party, sponsored by the UPHA, is a fundraiser for the 2014 UPHA Convention in Chicago. The planning committee has great plans in the works including good food, entertainment and a live and silent auction. The parties culminate with Friday’s Italian party, sponsored by Steak ‘N Shake. Attendees of the Friday party can also feast on Steak ‘N Shake’s famous chili and dance the night away to the returning Elvis Himselves.
