Mid-America Mane Event Judges Announced

Kim Cowart, Marilyn Macfarlane and Bill Waller will judge the 11th annual Mid-America Mane Event Show, October 24-27 (Thursday-Sunday) at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield.

Good Hands, Pleasure Olympics, Hackney Youth Finals Return

Three national finals programs continue at Mane Event: returning for the fifth year is the National Horse Show “Good Hands” Finals, part of the saddle seat equitation triple crown; the National Pleasure Equitation Olympics Finals, separate competitions for riders 13 years and under and riders 14 through 17 years that is sponsored by Illinois American Saddlebred Pleasure Horse Association; and the Hackney Youth Medallion Finals comprised of six classes for which competitors qualify by placing in an official AHHS-sanctioned Youth Medallion class.

Mane Event also offers an expansive class list with excellent options for amateurs showing performance and pleasure horses, and boasts ideal facilities for showing young horses. The State Fairgrounds facilities are totally “horse-friendly” and widely recognized as the country’s best show facilities.  Horsemen especially like them in the fall because ALL stabling is in enclosed barns convenient to the Coliseum plus there are three warm-up rings – two indoors and a huge covered arena that includes a 50-ft. round pen – all next to the in-gate and available 24/7. Everyone likes showing in the Coliseum’s banked oval arena with its excellent footing.

Understanding that sociability is part of producing a show that is fun for all exhibitors, organizers are planning a new (second) party to bring everyone together on Friday night.  For years, exhibitors have raved about Mane Event’s Saturday night exhibitor party, considered by many to be the best on the show circuit with multiple catered gourmet food stations (including the famous Lobster Bisque) and no long waiting lines.

Mid-America Mane Event entry booklet will be ready in August.  To request a printed copy, call Show Manager Joy Meierhans at 630/557-2575; or email [email protected].  Last year’s Mane Event class list can still be viewed at www.MidAmericaHorseShow.org, where this year’s entry booklet will be available to download and print.   Mane Event is produced by Mid-America Horse Show Association, one of the largest ASHA charter clubs.
