In Memory - Paul Eugene Wriston

Paul Eugene Wriston, 66, of Princeton, WV went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 26, 2005, at the Princeton Community Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born Jan. 16, 1939, in Kingston, Fayette County, he was the son of the late Lawrence L. and Ocie Mae Eades Wriston.

He was an active member of the Cashmere Baptist Church in Monroe County. He was a member of the armed forces having served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer from 1961 to 1963. He was a member of the West Virginia State Police from Dec. 6, 1965 until Jan. 16, 1989, when he retired with the rank of Sergeant at the Princeton Detachment.

In addition to being in the West Virginia State Police, he was a farrier all of his life. Wriston learned the trade from his father and grandfather and was well-known throughout West Virginia and Virginia among the many people with horses. He will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him. Wriston had been a farrier for the horse show at the West Virginia State Fair for more than 20 years, as well as numerous other horse shows in the immediate and surrounding area.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, July 29, 2005, at the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton. The Rev. John Offenberger officiated.
