Members Invited to USEF Annual Meeting

Lexington, KY - The 2007 USEF Annual Meeting will return to Louisville, KY, at the Seelbach Hilton from January 10-14. All USEF members are invited to attend this important event.

During the four-day event, the Board of Directors of the Federation meets several times to address a long agenda of topics including: election of new officers and directors; approving the next year’s budget; presentation of various departmental reports; rule changes; and other items. The Board Meetings are open to USEF members and the press.

In addition to the Board of Directors’ meetings, forums and committee meetings are held by many of the USEF’s 75 committees and working groups that have been created to represent the various breeds; disciplines; competitive areas, such as high-performance, youth competitions, etc.; and various industry issues, such as safety, drugs and medications, and continuing education..

Consistent with USEF Bylaws and Robert’s Rules of Order some committee meetings will be held in executive session, or closed to anyone who is not a committee member or USEF staff directly involved with the committee. It is USEF policy that a committee meeting will be held in executive session whenever legal, financial, budget, personnel or staffing issues are discussed. (A Board of Directors Meeting can also be voted into executive session by the board members if deemed necessary.) To determine if a meeting in which you are interested is open, contact the liaison of that committee. A full listing of committees can be found online at www.usef.org/content/aboutUs/committee.

In addition to the business meetings, the annual Pegasus Awards, honoring those who have made extraordinary contributions to equestrian sport, and the equestrians of the year, will be held Friday evening January 12th .The Farnam Platform-USEF Horse of the Year Awards Gala will be held Saturday evening January 13th to honor the USEF zone and regional Champions, as well as crown one special horse as the Horse of the Year.
