Louisville Candids of the Week





For the fifth year in a row Maisie Benfield earned the victory in the Kentucky Rider Saddle Seat Equitation class at the World’s Championship Horse Show.  Cindy Zubrod joined Maisie after the win.  


Rose Marie Wheeler had an incredible Sunday morning at the WCHS.  Not only did she win the second section of the 14-17 Three-Gaited Show Pleasure with CH Redesigned (pictured) but also topped the Junior Exhibitor Hackney Pleasure Driving Pony class with Nashville Cat and the 14-17 Road Pony with A Promised Honored. 


?Surrounded by her family and trainers Jim and Fay Lowry, Madeleine Wood won two large and competitive classes tonight at the World’s Championship Horse Show. She rode Take It From The Top to win section one of the Junior Exhibitor Five-Gaited Pleasure class and Buckles Boots ’N Spurs to win section two of the 14-17 Three-Gaited class.


Laura Dozer Elliott and Warrior’s Carumba (pictured) had the winning number in the second section of the Adult Three-Gaited Show Pleasure on Monday morning under the Autumn Hills banner.  Elliott is off to a great week with You’ve Been Thunderstruck and Chuck Herbert capturing the ASR Four-Year-Old Park Pleasure Sweepstakes and homebred Nutoriously Innocent winning the ASR Futurity Weanling class with Darrell Case.  Elliott will be back in the ring with CH Callaway’s Born To Ride and CH Break On Through while Steve Wheeler will present homebred Nuttin’ Innocent. 


Tammy DeVore celebrated winning her first open World’s Champion title closing out Monday night in the Five-Gaited Stallion Stake.  DeVore showed Helen Rich and Ali DeGray’s (SA) Kalarama’s Ultimate Choice to the victory.


?Iamnotacow and Marty Schaffel were surrounded by Steve Old, David Chretien, Zoe Schaffel, Linda McCorkle and Mary Ann Schaffel after they sped away with the World’s Champion Amateur Roadster To Bike title on Tuesday morning. 


Debbie Foley and CH Callaway’s Annabel Allison tied the legendary My My’s record of six World’s Champion Five-Gaited Mare titles with Frank Bradshaw to close out the Tuesday evening session. My My is the horse that inspired Foley to become a trainer when she saw her as a little girl sitting in the next to last row in the top of Freedom Hall.

Janet and Sam Kellett celebrated with Matt Shiflet after Shiflet closed out Wednesday night winning the Five-Giated Gelding Stake with Roselane’s Angelo.

Emcee Mark Farrar with Justin Cowley and Ali DeGray, winners of the Saddlebred Museum’s Dancing With The Saddlebred Stars. There was a great turnout for this year’s fundraiser at the World’s Championship Horse Show.

Joined by his wife Cheryl Innis, Ricky Harris was inducted into the American Road Horse & Pony Association Hall of Fame along with his late father and brother Ward and Roy Harris during the Thursday evening session of the World’s Championship Horse Show.


Joined by daughter Alice and granddaughter MyMy, Nancy Leigh Fisher won the World’s Champion of Champions Ladies Amateur Five-Gaited roses for the second consecutive year with CH My Wonder.


With instructor Missy Smith looking on, Isabella Privitera was crowned the World’s Champion of Champions Junior Saddle Seat Equitation rider during the final day session of the 2015 World’s Championship Horse Show.

Lionel Ferreira and the charismatic stallion Marc Of Charm topped a six-horse workout to win the $100,000 World’s Grand Champion Five-Gaited title to close out the 112th World’s Championship Horse Show. The champs were joined by Lionel’s wife Georgia and a legion of fans to celebrate the coveted win.
