Louise “Sweetie Pie” Willoughby Passes Away

Louise Latimer Willoughby, 100, of Dallas , TX died on February 5, 2012 in a local Dallas hospital. She was the mother of Joan Cantrell and Jan Myers, both of whom enjoyed decades of sharing the love of the American Saddlebred with her.

Known as ‘Sweetie Pie’ to her hundreds of friends and family, Willoughby was a rail side fixture at shows throughout the country.  She watched her daughters go from outstanding Academy riders to winning world’s championships. Even with one of her daughters or Jack Magill Stables’ friends in the ring, she never was too busy to share a smile or a quick story.

She is survived by daughters Jan Myers, husband Marc, and Joan Cantrell, husband Dick; granddaughters Jessica White, and Jennifer Goodman, husband Rob, great-grandchildren Alex and Robert Goodman, grandchildren Joanne Gates, husband Ben, Russell Myers and Molly Myers. There will be four great grandchildren added next week – Joanne is having triplets and Jennifer a singleton!

A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 in The Wynne Chapel at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 3821 University Blvd., Dallas, TX. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 9, 2012 in Groves, TX from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Levingston Funeral Home, 5601 39th St., Groves, TX. A Graveside will be on Friday, February 10, 2012 at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Groves Texas, at 10am.

In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to send memorials to Camp John Marc, 2824 Swiss Avenue, Dallas, TX 75204.
