St. Louis National Awarded Designation as a USEF Heritage Competition
Monday, September 17, 2012
The St. Louis National Charity Horse Show will be held September 26-30, 2012 at the National Equestrian Center in Lake Saint Louis, MO. This historical equestrian event has received the designation of USEF Heritage Competition. This honor is reserved for competitions that have been in existence for a quarter century or more, promoted equestrian sport, and make a contribution to the community outside the gates of the horse show by achieving, maintaining and promoting the equestrian ideals of sportsmanship and competition.
Also during the show, Ruth Pfeffer, an original founder of the St. Louis National Charity Horse Show, celebrates her 100th Birthday this year. Ruth’s vision for a competitive horse show in the St. Louis area – one that would attract the best horses from across the country – and would at the same time benefit local charities - continues some 35 years later to the goal of the St. Louis National Charity Board of Directors. Ruth had many champion horses, but her three-gaited mare Sea Beauty was a special horse – so special that Ruth named her farm Sea Beauty Farm. The Amateur Three-Gaited Championship is dedicated to Ruth – both to celebrate her birthday and to thank her for her long history of volunteer work for the benefit of the horse show industry.
