A Letter from Saddlebred Rescue, Inc.

Dear Saddlebred, Morgan and Hackney Enthusiasts:

Saddlebred Rescue Inc is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization formed to help prevent Saddlebreds, Morgans and Hackneys from going to slaughter. The efforts of this organization have saved over 180 horses to date. This organization was the winner of the 2006 USEF Heroes for Horses award for our efforts keeping horses from going to slaughter.

We now need your help. These efforts have been funded by donations and out of the personal funds of those who started this effort. We need everyone who has benefited from these wonderful horses to step up and help. You can personally help by sending donations to Saddlebred Rescue Inc 13765 Old Post Rd Hortense GA 31543. If you have a foundation or know of one that we can apply to for a grant please send that information to us as well. If your company wants to make a donation of the product you offer, that will be put to good use as well. You can e-mail us at saddlebredrescue@earthlink.net. If you want to ask a question you can call (908) 304-3560.

The majority of the horses we help are finding homes in lesson programs where the whole industry benefits. Lessons are what introduce the vast majority of new owners to the American Saddlebred. Those owners buy horses, equipment, riding suits, pay vet and farrier bills along with board, training and shipping. The list goes on and on.  Yes, these horses bound for slaughter can go a long way toward helping the breed and industry.

Our needs include the financial support to pay vet and farrier bills, shipping to and from foster homes and the sale, training for horses that aren’t ready for adoption, and upkeep for the facility we are using free of charge, a place for those horses unable to be adopted. We also need funds to create and maintain three traveling table top information booths to send to volunteers for promotion at horse shows and statewide meetings, promotional materials, pay for the website and discussion forum along with office related expenses. This is just a sample of what our needs are.

We have received a donation that will fund an employee to take care of these horses as well as provide feed. This donation, along with the 3 three-stall barns that have been donated, are helping a lot but your help can help ensure the ongoing operations and success of Saddlebred Rescue Inc.

No donation either financially or of product is too small. Everything is put to use in some manner.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Sincerely,

Pat Johnson
