Lady’s Enticement Passes At 31

The legendary park mare Lady’s Enticement was euthanized April 7 at Chrislar Farm, her beloved home for the past 14 years. The extremely gifted daughter of Orcland Supreme Beau and Amish Lady was bred by Walter and Velma Shenk and as a three-year-old sold to Judith Paini. With Ann Anderson riding, Lady’s Enticement was the Ladies Park Saddle World Champion in 1984 and ’85 as well as the Open Park Saddle World Grand Champion in ’85.

Winner of New England’s Ladies Park Saddle Championship five different times, Lady’s Enticement also had a daughter - Salem After Hours - who won the same title in 1999. She also produced the champion Salem Shazam while under the ownership of Michael Pasquarella. In 1996 Katie Moynihan would become her final owner and together they returned to the show ring to claim many junior exhibitor titles in the Northeast while trainer Chris Cassenti was winning in the ladies division. Moynihan and Lady’s Enticement returned to Oklahoma in 1998 and won a Grand National Junior Exhibitor Park Saddle 16-17 Reserve Championship. She was last shown in 2000 at the age of 21.

"She still park walked to and from turnout," said Cassenti. "She left us with many wonderful, exciting memories and some pretty good stories."
