Karen Winn Named Executive Director of the ASHA



The Board of Directors of the American Saddlebred Horse Association (ASHA) announced today that Karen Winn has been named as the Executive Director of ASHA.

Karen is highly regarded in the equine industry. She comes to ASHA from the United States Pony Club, where she served over 14 years in a variety of roles including Activities Director, Finance & Administration Director, Interim Executive Director, and most recently as Chief Operating Officer. Prior to her tenure at the Pony Club, Karen served as the Business Manager for the American Hanoverian Society for 5 years, where her duties included registry functions.

Karen has a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with concentration in Equine Science from the University of Massachusetts, and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Kentucky. She is a Certified Sports Marketing Professional, a licensed USEF "R" judge in dressage and eventing, and an FEI Eventing Judge and Chief Steward.

“Karen Winn is the ideal person to lead ASHA into the future,” said ASHA President Tandy Patrick. “In this exciting time of new ideas, new directions and exciting initiatives at ASHA, Karen’s unique combination of skills and experience makes her uniquely qualified to serve as the new CEO for ASHA. Our entire Board looks forward to working with her.”

Karen will be available to meet ASHA members during the ASHA’s Open Forum at the Red Mile Clubhouse, scheduled for Tuesday, July 10th, 4:30 – 6 PM. The Open Forum will give ASHA members and their guests a chance to learn more about recent news and happenings at ASHA, including the upcoming technology/computer upgrade project. The Open Forum will also feature a special presentation by Don Harris and Raymond Shively on “Mastering the Red Mile”, as these two noted trainers share their stories of showing at the Lexington Junior League.
