John Nichols Dies



John Nichols died at the age of 77 at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at Lourdes hospital in Paducah, Ky.

Services for Nichols of Benton, Ky., were held Friday, April 29, at the Collier Funeral Home with the Revs. Don Wilson and Headley Thweatt officiating. Burial will be in Marshall County Memory Gardens.

A cement mason, he was a member and past president of Cement and Mason Local No. 135. He was also a member of First Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Nichols and husband, Dick Granger, of Peoria, Ill., and Carlette Howell of Pensacola, Fla.; two sons, James Nichols of Paducah and David Nichols and wife, Linda, of Dallas; two sisters, Myrlin Thweatt of Benton and Martha Long of Calvert City; a brother, Frank J. Nichols of Benton; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

His parents were Coleman Duke Nichols and Tula Peck Nichols.
