Horses at Double D Ranch stricken ill by vandals

The Saddle Horse Report has learned that an unknown number of intruders broke into Dena Lopez’s Double D Ranch in Versailles, Ky., Saturday evening, June 28 injecting five horses with an unidentified acid-like substance.

The horses affected include multi-titled World’s Champion CH Wild Eyed And Wicked, CH Cat’s Don’t Dance, who is also a world’s champion, Meet Prince Charming, Kiss Me and Sassational.

Three of the nation’s top veterinarians are now running tests to identify the substance that has infected the horses. The substance has burned and killed the skin of all horses infected.

“This is obviously beyond spiteful,” said Bridget Parker, who was on hand to assist Lopez with this ordeal.”These actions were aimed directly at Dena. They’ve taken out horses that may be out forever, including Wicked, who is possibly the best horse we’ve seen in 50 years.”

In addition to the local police, the local media and other officials, the FBI is said to be involved in the case. No further details are available at this time.
