Happy Holiday In the Delovely Tradition

Even a major winter storm couldn’t stop Christmas at DeLovely Farm. The roads were slick, stopping travel by ground and even by air. But those who made it to Rockport, Ind., felt the holiday spirit in the DeLovely Tradition.

The Syndicate of Soul brought all ages to their feet in center ring. Dancing all night helped work off the chocolate fountain treat. But the biggest treat of all was the surprises that came down the hall.

Callaway’s Coraleen is the new teammate for young Macey Miles who will show in the 8 & under walk and trot division. Mamma Lil got a surprise of her own when the customers presented her with a new lesson horse, a rescue Saddlebred named Lewis.

Cagle James, a new face at the farm, learned about her new teammate for 2008. It was a surprise kept secret for several months by former trainer Lewis Eckard. The equitation star is now paired up with Little Lord Huntley.

One secret that did sneak out but still brought excitement was the purchase of Feng Shui. Hunter Chancellor will return to equitation on her new mount this spring. Chancellor will be joined by friend Courtney McGinnis who couldn’t imagine a better teammate than big sister Brittany’s Amandari. The two girls will both show in equitation 11-13.

Abby Mutrux searched for the perfect teammate this fall and found him in center ring at St. Louis already sharing his blues. Mutrux will start the New Year with Blackboard in pleasure equitation.

Four honors were announced at this year’s celebration. Brittany McGinnis was honored for her Triple Crown in saddle seat equitation. Callie Smith was noted for her UPHA National Championship. A special honor this year went to Kaitlin Cooper for her dedication and passion in the DeLovely tradition. And last but not the least is the honor decided by the DeLovely grooms. Their choice two years in a row for Customer of the Year went to Mary Jane Fredrickson.
