Hansons Buy Cryst-A-Kell Farm

Dale and Amy Hanson, owners of Penny Lane Farm, Boaz, Ky., have recently purchased Cryst-A-Kell Farm from Larry and Carol Sanders and their daughters Crystal and Kelly. The Sanders have owned the Paducah, Ky., farm and stable since 1985. James Nichols has been a part of the Cryst-A-Kell family as trainer during this time period and he and his staff will remain as is.

The Hansons have had horses in training with Nichols for some time. That string includes world’s champion road horse Royal Count as well as Harlem’s Power Ball, Vision Heir, Artic Lights, Thunder’s Moonlight Serenade and Good Time Gal.

“We are excited about this opportunity. We have had a great association with James [Nichols] and we look forward to our expanded role,” said Amy Hanson.

Penny Lane Farm serves as the Hansons’ breeding and colt facility. Jon Wallace is the trainer there and he is assisted by Rachel Birgells. Jay Michael is the manager. Heading the Hansons' breeding program is the CH Will Shriver son, Ultimatum (out of Nancy O’Lee by Supreme Sultan). Ultimatum stands at Alliance Stud under the direction of Danette Musselman.
