Flooding in Pacific Northwest Takes Toll on Morgan Farm
Thursday, December 6, 2007
Parts of Oregon and Washington have been declared federal disaster areas this week after heavy rains caused massive flooding. Terry Johnson’s Dream Morgans, in the Chehalis area of Washington, was hard hit by the floods. Fortunately, all her horses are all right, but she lost all her fencing and her barn suffered considerable damage. She has no running water and her house was flooded. They have to get water for the horses from town. The neighboring Thoroughbred farm lost all of their horses from drowning, along with a close-by dairy farm.
A relief fund has been set up to assist the Johnsons, who did not have flood insurance.
Mail to: Flood Fund Box 658 St. Helens, OR 97051
Checks should be made out to SHCFCU Acct # 997054 with "flood fund" on the memo line. Put your farm name/your name & address so Terry will have a list, as she'll surely want to thank her Morgan friends later when life settles down.
