Equine Obituary...Amber Returns
Monday, November 15, 2004
The first world’s champion trained and shown by Melissa Moore when she went out on her own, Amber Returns died Monday, November 8 at the age of nine. She did not survive colic surgery.
A daughter of Royal Return and Desert Amber, Amber Returns was the 1997 Two-Year-Old Three-Gaited World’s Champion. The follow year with Moore still in the irons, she won three-year-old classes at the American Royal, Asheville, ASHAV, and the All American Classic to go with a reserve at Lexington and the reserve world’s champion title at Louisville.
For the past three years she has been shown in the junior exhibitor ranks by current owner Molly Trent. Under the Sunrise Stables banner, they won classes at Lawrenceburg and May Classic. In 2003 they were fourth in the 13 & under class at Louisville.
“It was a sad day around here,” said Moore. “We’re really going to miss her.”
