EQUESTRIAN Magazine Named Official Publication of World Equestrian Games 2010

(Lexington, KY) - EQUESTRIAN magazine, the official publication of equestrian sport since 1937 and the print voice of the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) for over seven decades, has been named as the official publication of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2010. The announcement was made April 26th during a cocktail party hosted by the USEF and held after the Thursday dressage competition at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event at the Kentucky Horse Park, site of the 2010 Games.

Beginning with the 2008 issues of EQUESTRIAN magazine, the World Games 2010 Foundation, Inc. will begin publishing a section of pages devoted entirely to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2010 and all the activity surrounding the exciting event. The combination of the magazine and this illustrious international equestrian competition was a natural match according to members of both staffs.

“As we prepare for the Games, we need to have an ‘official’ means of effective communication to the broad equestrian community, both in the U.S. and elsewhere. This partnership with EQUESTRIAN magazine is an excellent way for us to do so, with such a top quality publication,” said Jack Kelly, CEO of the World Games 2010 Foundation. “As a regular reader myself, I know that the audience we want to reach reads EQUESTRIAN magazine with great interest and attention. We will benefit greatly by the association.”

“This partnership with EQUESTRIAN magazine is a terrific opportunity for us to better communicate with the industry and those who are the core competitors, enthusiasts and USEF members,” said Terry Johnson, Director of External Relations for the World Games 2010 Foundation. “The commitment of the USEF to the 2010 Games has been invaluable, and this announcement is one more way for us to work together.”

Readers will be able to turn to EQUESTRIAN magazine, the USEF website and the 2010 Games website as their ultimate sources for information regarding developments, ticket sales, news and any matter regarding the event.

The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2010 will be held September 25–October 10, 2010, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. The event, which is held every four years, will host the crowning of world champions of the eight equestrian disciplines recognized by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI). The Games have never before been held outside of Europe; nor have all eight disciplines ever previously been held together at a single site. These are firsts that will be achieved at the Kentucky Horse Park. The 2010 Games are expected to have a statewide economic impact of $150-million. It is anticipated that more than 600,000 spectators will attend the 16-day competition.

“We are very proud that EQUESTRIAN magazine is the official publication for the Games,” said David O’Connor, USEF President. “We will enjoy providing our members, and the world at-large, all the exciting news and information about the Games.”

The first issue of what is now known as EQUESTRIAN magazine debuted as a small newsletter on July 1, 1937, under the title HORSE SHOW. Since that time, the magazine has not only changed names to better reflect the scope and breadth of the USEF membership, it has grown in size and circulation. Today, the average issue of EQUESTRIAN contains in excess of 100 pages and is read by approximately 90,000 members and their families in all U.S. states and 50 foreign countries.
