DeBruyn Relocates To Bluebonnet Farm

Philip DeBruyn recently joined the staff of Bluebonnet Farm in Bellville, Texas as assistant trainer. DeBruyn joins trainer Sandra Currier and owners Ed and Ada Perwien at the well-known show and breeding facility which stands Harlem Globemaster and Shoobop Shoobop. “I’m very happy to be here,” said DeBruyn. “I’m definitely looking forward to working with the young horses and helping to work the show string with Sandy.” In preparation for the upcoming breeding season, DeBruyn is preparing to take a short course at Texas A & M University in January.

DeBruyn, from South Africa, worked for Cape Cod Farm with Gene, Kathy and Erin Boggs for eight years. During that time he served as assistant trainer. Prior to working at Cape Cod, DeBruyn spent a year and a half at Premier Stables with Rob and Sarah Byers.

Bluebonnet Farm recently returned from the UPHA National Championship/American Royal Horse Show with the sweep of the junior park pleasure division. The Harlem Globemaster-sired George Foreman earned both wins with unanimous decisions. He Sure Is, a full brother to George Foreman, out of Luv Ya Rose, was the two-year-old fine harness reserve champion after winning Dixie Jubilee’s Fine Harness Grand Championship and junior qualifier earlier this season.
