ASHBA Updates Major Award Program. 2021 Nominations due August 1

The American Saddlebred Horse & Breeders Association (ASHBA) is updating our nomination period for the member major award program. The nomination period will now require all nominations for awards not related to breeding will be due August 1. The Breeders Hall of Fame and Breeder of the Year award nominations will be due September 1, after the conclusion of the World’s Championship Horse Show.

This update comes with the time that is now required to prepare, submit for board review and account for honoree celebrations to be produced for the annual UPHA National Conference. Due to the nature of most of our awards are based on a member’s longtime commitment to the breed and work on behalf of ASHBA we feel these earlier nomination dates are able to be accommodated.

Information and descriptions of each award are available on the ASHBA Major Awards page. All nominations must be done via the forms provided under each of the awards listed. Please review each award criteria carefully before making a nomination. The forms fill out the form to completion with a detailed description of why the nominee is deserving of each specific award. A nominator can only nominate a nominee for one (1) award. Current ASHA board members are not eligible to receive an award and not every award must be given annually.

The Wing Commander Medal of Honor recipients receives a polished brass Wing Commander Medal of Honor, which is affixed to a grey and maroon ribbon. All other award winners receive a custom-crafted silver julep cup, and the Ogletree Youth winner will also receive a lifetime membership to ASHA.

Please return nomination forms via email to Jean Warren at [email protected] ; please be sure to include “Award Nomination” in the subject line, via fax 859-259-1628 or by mail to ASHBA, c/o Jean Warren, 4083 Iron Works Parkway, Lexington, KY 40511
