ASHBA Announces Melissa Moore Passion for the Breed Scholarship program

The American Saddlebred Horse & Breeders Association (ASHBA) is pleased to announce two more scholarship opportunities for ASHBA and Kentucky American Saddlebred Pleasure Horse Association (KASPHA) members through the Melissa Moore Passion for the Breed Scholarship program. These awards will provide financial assistance to one ASHBA and one KASPHA member on an annual basis, who are students seeking undergraduate or graduate level education, and have a sincere passion for all aspects of the American Saddlebred industry.

“This scholarship means so much to me!” said Melissa Moore. “I am extremely passionate about the horse industry and the welfare of the horses we train. I want my passion and enthusiasm for the American Saddlebred to be carried forward to generation after generation.” The purpose behind these scholarships is to encourage the youth of this industry to seek higher education, or training, in the hopes that they will use the skills and education achieved with the assistance of this award to benefit the future of the equine industry.

David Mount, ASHBA Executive Director/CEO added, “I would like to thank Melissa for her passion for our amazing breed and for creating this scholarship opportunity for deserving ASHBA and KASPHA members."

Scholarships will be awarded to applicants on the basis of academic success, financial need, extracurricular activities (including community service), involvement with American Saddlebred horses, and personal references. An interview may also be required.

Completed applications, attached transcripts and financial information are due in the ASHBA office no later than December 1st. Letters of reference are due by December 15th. Any inquiries or questions should be directed to ASHBA Development Manager, Morgan King at 859-259-3896 or [email protected].
