ASHB Establishes New Deadline for Nominations and Payments

ASHB Establishes New Deadline for Nominations and Payments

The American Saddlebred Horse Breeder's (ASHB) Futurity of Tennessee has established a new deadline for nomination and fee payments which is effective for 2003.

Instead of several deadlines for payments, all nominations and payments for stallions, mares, weanlings, yearlings, two-year-olds, and three-year-olds will be due by May 15. The ASHB Futurity of Tennessee consists of three separate futurities, the Tennessee Futurity, the Three-Year-Old Futurity, and the Amateur Futurity. The Tennessee Futurity consists of classes for weanlings and yearlings shown in hand and two-year-olds shown in fine harness. The Three-Year-Old Futurity classes include three gaited, five gaited, and fine harness for three-year-olds. The Amateur Futurity features classes for weanlings, yearlings, and two-year-olds shown in hand by amateur exhibitors.

Mrs. Betty Neil, who has worked with the Futurity since the 1960s, stepped down from the position of registrar at the end of 2002. The ASHB Futurity of Tennessee is affiliated by the American Saddle Horse Association of Tennessee (ASHAT) and the ASHAT board of directors selected Dianna Pearson of Talbott, Tenn., to fill the registrar's position and Jeannie Smith of Greeneville, Tenn., to serve as the new treasurer. Both Dianna and Jeannie worked with Mrs. Neil during 2002 and served as the Futurity representatives at the Morristown Charity Horse Show in October.

The 2003 ASHB Futurity of Tennessee will be held during the Morristown Charity Horse Show at the Walters State Great Smoky Mountains Expo Center in White Pine, Tenn., on October 3-5. The facility features a large indoor arena and spacious permanent stalls.
