ASHA announces annual meeting agenda, breed discussions

Posted February 6, 2002
(Lexington, Kentucky) The American Saddlebred Horse Association has finalized plans for its annual meeting, including a member business meeting, open forum for discussion of several topics of current interest, a breeding technology workshop, promotional workshops for Charter Club members, Youth Club Roundtable, an expose of the American Saddlebred Sport Horse, and two evenings of glitzy awards presentations.

To be held at Embassy Suites Lexington on February 21, 22 and 23, attendees will be treated to "stimulating discussion of several topics important to our breed, such as whether membership in ASHA should be required for owners, exhibitors, and trainers of American Saddlebreds, as well as comparison of minor versus major faults of conformation with regard to judging standards, equine health issues, amnesty for non-registered horses, and more," according to AHSA President Tom Pettry. "These discussions help frame the work undertaken by our national Association, which represents American Saddlebred owners and breed enthusiasts. This is an important opportunity to learn and voice opinions."

Conveniently located near the Kentucky Horse Park, the Embassy Suites Lexington features easy access to meeting and guest rooms, a full-service restaurant and room service, well-equipped fitness room, and an indoor pool. "Our hotel package is an especially attractive one for attendees this year," said Executive Secretary Marcia Carothers. "For only $99, guests receive a cook-to-order breakfast, a complimentary hospitality hour in the afternoon, and a guest suite large enough to comfortably accommodate most families." Attendees are encouraged to reserve hotel rooms immediately; the special ASHA rate is good only through February 8. To reserve your room, contact the hotel directly at 859/455-5000 or 800/EMBASSY (800/362-2779). Mention the ASHA Annual Meeting to receive the special rate. To register on the Internet, go to www.embassysuites.com, click on RESERVATIONS, find KENTUCKY, select Lexington, and enter group code ASH to receive the discounted group rate.
