ASHA Accepting Applications for ASHA Youth Scholarships

Each year, the American Saddlebred Horse Association (ASHA) recognizes its members in grade 11 or higher, age 21 and under, on the basis of academic success, financial need, extracurricular activities, including community service, involvement with American Saddlebred horses and personal references. An interview may be included in the selection process, and applicants are asked to write an essay, which includes information about school experiences, special interests, hobbies and ASHA activities.

The purpose of these scholarships is to encourage, support and recognize participation in all aspects of the American Saddlebred industry, as well as to strengthen the American Saddlebred industry and breed through education.  Three scholarships for $5000 are awarded each year. There is also one $2,500 scholarship funded by the American Saddlebred Association of Alabama awarded to and ASHA Youth from Alabama.

Scholarships are awarded only to high school graduates or those students whose graduation is imminent. Applications must be received by April 30 of the year in which the applicant wishes to receive the scholarship. The scholarship money will be paid directly to the institution, university, college or trade school for post-secondary educational expenses.
