Announcement of ASR Registrar Appointment

The Board of Directors of the American Saddlebred Registry and the Board of the American Saddlebred Horse Association (ASHA), are pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Duncan as the Interim Registrar of the American Saddlebred Registry.

Lisa will assume the role as the Permanent Registrar as soon as the new Executive Director of ASHA is in place. The Registrar’s primary role is to manage and supervise the operation and affairs of the Registry, and administer the overall missions of the Registry, which are (i) to establish, maintain and publish a register for the recording of pedigrees and transfers of ownership, and (ii) to guard the purity of the breed.

The ASHA Board feels that Lisa’s background and experience makes her uniquely qualified for this important position. Lisa is a lifelong horsewoman and is very knowledgeable about the breed. As a graduate of the University of Kentucky where she majored in Agriculture Education with a specialty in Equine Science, Lisa has over 20 years of experience working in various positions in the Saddlebred industry.

Lisa stated, “My first priority is customer service and the production of a quality product. I believe that the Registry is our ‘Crown Jewel’ and should be maintained as such."

Effective June 22, 2012, Lisa has resigned as President and a Director of the Registry Board, and has also resigned her position as a Director of ASHA. Her duties as Registrar will commence on June 25, 2012. The Registry Board will elect a new Director and a new President to fill Lisa’s unexpired terms at its regularly scheduled meeting on July 10, 2012. The ASHA Board will elect a new Director to fill Lisa’s unexpired term at its regularly scheduled meeting on July 10, 2012 as well.
