AMHI van Schaik Dressage Scholarship Winner Announced

The American Morgan Horse Institute recently announced their AMHI van Schaik Dressage Scholarship winner as Phyllis Laderman, from Escondido, Calif. Phyllis has owned Morgan horses since 1974, and has competed exclusively on Morgans as her dressage mounts since 1978. She and her Morgan gelding Alibi Only Playtime train with Laurie Falvo Doyle, who has helped her move on to Third Level. The van Schaik Dressage Scholarship funds will help Phyllis take lessons more frequently, to achieve her goal of showing Fourth Level and Third Level Freestyles.

This scholarship is dedicated to the memory of Dr. H.L.M. van Schaik, who throughout his life fought to preserve the classical art of horsemanship in dressage. To van Schaik, this meant utilizing gentleness, psychology and the horse's innate qualities to develop a horse that is useful, willing and correct in his work.
