ACS Ride For Life Sets Show Date

The fourth annual American Cancer Society Ride for Life Horse Show has been set for June 28, 2003. This multi-breed show will be held at the spacious and beautiful Tazwell County Fairground in Tazwell, Va. The event begins at 9:30 a.m. with a fun filled youth show for anyone age 17 and under. The performance classes will be held at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. There are 60 classes for American Saddlebred, Western, Arabian, and Standardbred to name a few.
Winning horses will be awarded beautiful silver and crystal trophies and neck ribbons. Youth Show winners will receive neck medallions and a silver tray will be presented to the high point winner. The American Saddlebred Horse Association Junior Judging competition will be held during the show again this year. Anyone 21 years old and under may enter this event. Sign up by 1:00 p.m. with the show secretary.
The American Cancer Society volunteers will be selling delicious treats and horse show souvenirs. Exhibitors will have an opportunity to “take a break” in the hospitality room, where food and live music will be provided.
Free skin cancer screenings will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for all ticket holders. Overnight exhibitors may take advantage of the new camper hookups located at the fairground.
The horse show committee is made up of veteran exhibitors and a host of dedicated volunteers who pledge to make the show “exhibitor friendly” with wonderful southern hospitality.
The purpose of this show is to raise funds for the American Cancer Society, to create awareness of the programs that are offered by our local chapter and to provide a quality horse show and family entertainment for the exhibitors and the community.
Gate admission is $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for children 12 years and under.
