Beamer Helps Rescue Horses from Lilac Fire
Friday, December 8, 2017
Barbara Beamer joined scores of neighbors, friends, volunteers and community members to help transport and shelter horses and pets displaced in the Lilac Fire which decimated the San Luis Rey Training Center and is still burning in San Diego County.
“When I saw on the news that the fire had destroyed the training center I knew they were going to need help hauling horses out of the area. I went to the staging area and brought two horses home [to her Seaview Farm in Encinitas, Calif.].”
“Six more horses arrived shortly after needing a place to stay and now I’m full up with horses, pets and owners,” said Beamer. “The Santa Ana winds are driving these fires and my place is pretty protected so I’m glad to be able to offer shelter.”
