Another Record Breaking Performance

by Bob Funkhouser

Morgan Grand National fans were treated to a history making performance on Thursday afternoon as Arcadia, Oklahoma resident Chloe Farischon became the first junior exhibitor to win the World Champion Four-Year-Old English Pleasure title. Under the direction of Kelly Kraegel and Kurt Hufferd at Cottonwood Creek, Farischon rode Indian Creek Recordbreaker to the title as well as the Grand National Four-Year-Old English Pleasure Stallion/Gelding honors earlier in the week.

“Kurt and I loved him,” said Kraegel. “We were trying to get someone in the barn to buy a prospect. Kurt obviously knew him and Shanna [Gish] had done such a great job with him, we knew we wanted him. It was a crash course getting Chloe ready for him as they were both green and still learning, but she worked so hard and he is so smart.”

Farischon, who began showing in 2011 was up for the challenge. “It was a little intimidating but I didn’t really know what to expect so I wasn’t that nervous,” said Farischon of her first Oklahoma rides on the four-year-old she calls Jett. “I just wanted to do my best. Kelly told me to ride him like I do at the barn and it all worked out.”
