AMHA Young Adult Alliance Announces Fifth Annual Judging School Scholarship

The AMHA Young Adult Alliance, a group of professionals and amateurs working together to strengthen the Morgan breed, today announced the opening of applications for their fifth annual judging school scholarship. The scholarship awards up to $1,500 in reimbursement following the successful completion of two judges schools and one learner judging position to one individual aged 21-40, professional or amateur, who is interested in attaining their Morgan "R" judging card.

“This program is one of the cornerstones of the Young Adult Alliance and a great way for us to give back to our community by enhancing the judging pool and empowering young adults to gain their judging card,” said Steven Handy co-chair of the AMHA Young Adult Alliance. “We encourage all young adults to become involved and give back to the Morgan community.”

Any professional or amateur, age 21-40, who has the intent of becoming a USEF Morgan "R" judge may apply. Applicants should submit a 500-word essay on the topic: “What I hope to learn from Morgan judging school and what I will contribute to the judging pool.”  In addition, applicants must include one recommendation letter from a current USEF "R" Morgan judge, a resume, and the completed application.

Selection will be based on the applicant's passion and desire to contribute to the Morgan breed and uphold the breed standard as expressed in the essay, Morgan experience as outlined in the application, and the experience, dedication and commitment suggested from the letter of recommendation. Professional or amateur competitor status will not be taken in to consideration in the selection process. Past winners include: Josh Noble, Melissa Morrell, Jordan Cusumano and Celia Salmon.

Applications for the 2018 YAA Judging School Scholarship will open from December 5, 2017 to January 15, 2018. For an application, please visit http://www.morganhorse.com/yaa/yaa-project.
