Southern States Prepares For 35th Anniversary Show



 

The Southern States Regional Championship Morgan Horse Show, held in late May each year in Raleigh NC has earned the Horse World Magazine’s 2006 People’s Choice Award for “Most Hospitable Show”. This is the fifth consecutive year the Virginia-Carolina Morgan Horse Club and Southern States Show Committee has received this distinguished award. Show Chair, Julie Broadway stated “It is indeed an honor to once again be chosen by our very own peers for this recognition. We look forward to continuing this tradition with an outstanding 35th Anniversary Show in 2007.”

 

This high-level competition will celebrate the versatility of America’s first native breed. Riders from all over North America will compete in Dressage, Hunter on the flat & Over Fences, Western, Saddle Seat, Carriage, In-hand, Equitation, Trail, Reining and Roadster classes. Winners will qualify to compete in the Grand National and World Championship Morgan Horse Show later this year in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  Historically, many of the winners at the Southern States Regional have gone on to be World Champions.

 

The 2007 Southern States Regional Championship Morgan Horse runs Wednesday morning May 23 through Saturday evening May 26 at the Jim Hunt Horse Complex on Trinity Road in Raleigh, across from Carter-Finley Stadium. The competition takes place in several indoor and outdoor arenas with two daily sessions. Admission is free. Food and gift vendors will be available.
