Obituary - Carl E. Nason



STRATHAM — Carl E. Nason, 86, of Stratham, died suddenly Monday, June 4, 2007, at the Bay State Medical Center in Springfield, Mass.

Mr. Nason was born Dec. 27, 1920, in Haverhill, Mass., one of eight children of the late Bert A. and Alma L. (Calderwood) Nason.

He was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1938, and received his bachelor's degree in business administration from Boston University in 1948.

He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a navigator and bombardier and was the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Mr. Nason worked as a sales representative for McKesson & Robbins Pharmaceutical Company of Boston, Mass., working his way up to a management position in the Springfield, Mass., office. He later worked many years as the Mid-Atlantic sales representative for American Pad and Paper Company before retiring in 1982.

He had resided in Stratham since 1989, moving from Gradyville, Penn. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hampton Falls, an avid fisherman in his earlier years, and was the oldest volunteer for the Big Brother program in the Seacoast area. He was also a former member of St. John's Lodge A.F. & A.M of Newburyport, Mass.

He shared 61 years of marriage with his wife, Thyra A. (Fern) Nason.

Other family members include his son, Ron Nason of Stratham; his daughter, Judy Nason of Ashby, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his four brothers and three sisters.

Services will be held Saturday, June 23, at 11:30 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Hampton Falls. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. If desired, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, 3 Lincoln Ave., Hampton Falls, NH 03844.
