In Memorium - John Raymond

John Raymond with his granddaughter

John Raymond of Jeffersonville, VT, died on July 25, 2007 from complications of Lymphoma. He was at home and in the presence of his loving family - Elise, Kelly, Chris, and Missy. His loss will not only be felt by them but by all manner of people and organizations that he helped throughout his life. He was a participant in two different volunteer fire departments, the VT National Guard, his local historical society, and both The Vermont and American Morgan Horse Associations. He operated the Raymond Coach Shop, restoring and selling antique and show vehicles. During his last days, when he needed help completing a roofing project on his home, a single email produced forty-five volunteers.

John was the heart and soul of the Vermont Spring Classic Horse Show since its inception in 1989. He solved all problems cheerfully and methodically whether he was fixing your golf cart, repairing a jog cart, erecting tents for his organizations, wiring your barn, fixing a computer, trucking your hay, composing show programs, ordering hats, T-shirts, trophies, ribbons, and coolers, as well as teaching Bonnie how to train a pair. He was everybody's shoulder to lean on. John was my best friend and I miss him terribly - as will the friends who attended the celebration of his life at his home on August 1, 2007.
