Jersey Classic Benefits Cancer Survivor Group

Planning is well underway for the 21st Annual Jersey Classic scheduled June 8 - 10, 2007 at the Horse Park of New Jersey near Allentown, NJ.  Mike Hylton of Shelbyville, Ky. will judge this year’s show.

The
Jersey Classic features the American Saddlebred with divisions also for Morgan, Hackney, and roadsters. The show offers open-to-all-breed, equitation and academy classes as well.

In 1986, the first Jersey Classic was held at the Horse Park.  It was a new facility and has since grown into one of the finest show grounds in the East.  And what started as a one-day show 21 years ago, the Jersey Classic has grown to what it is today with classes scheduled Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday afternoon. The show is pleased with its past and excited about its future!

Many horse shows have worthy beneficiaries, but how many are able to combine their philanthropy with their equine focus?

The 2007 Jersey Classic will benefit the Sharing Village Cancer Survivor Group which is putting on an exhibition at the show, "Driving for Surviving".  It is a pediatric oncology equestrian driving program primarily using donated/loaned Mini horses and taught by equestrians who are survivors as well.  This organization has recently adopted a Saddlebred into its program from Saddlebred Rescue, Inc. - another survivor!

Special awards in 2007 will include the $500 Garden State Saddlebred Park Pleasure Horse Classic and Trophy, open to mares and geldings 4 years and under; the Saddlebred Country Pleasure Versatility Award open to all Saddlebred Country Pleasure horses; the Morgan Pleasure Versatility Award open to all Morgan Pleasure and Classic Pleasure horses; and the Charles Covino Perpetual Memorial Trophy  for the Roadster Pony Champion.

June is "the month of the horse" in New Jersey and the show committee encourages spectators to come spend an enjoyable time in a beautiful, spacious country setting.
