Canadian Road Horse Association Hosts AGM

ROCKWOOD, ON – The Canadian Road Horse Association (CRHA) hosted its Annual General Membership meeting this past weekend
at the Toronto Airport Marriott Hotel in conjunction with “The Mane Event.”  Items on the agenda included fundraising, reports, promotion and sponsorship, and the election of directors.  The new CRHA promotional brochure was distributed as well.  A big “thanks” to Sherri Archdekin - it looks great!  Anyone wishing a copy can contact Sherri at (519) 856-4903 or by e-mail at sherri.archdekin@sympatico.ca.  A promotional DVD on road horses and Standardbreds will also be produced for use during classes at the Royal Winter Fair and other events.

Sponsorships will be provided this year to the OHA Ontario Show in Barrie, Ormstown Fair in Quebec, the CNE Horse Show, and the Royal.  Beginning in 2007, exhibitors participating in the OHHA Green Roadster Classic will be required to be OHHA members as well.  Members were also encouraged to join the OEF which provides excellent insurance coverage as one of its benefits.  A committee was formed to select the 2007 Hall of Fame inductee and to further develop and refine the program and criteria.  In addition to the successful Silent Stallion Auction, additional fundraising for this year will include a repeat of the delicious pork barbecue which was held at the Royal.  Minutes of the 2007 AGM will be posted in the Members’ Corner on the CRHA web site as they become available.

Directors elected for a two-year term are Harley Allison, Joanne Heath, Carolyn Nugent, Jeff Passmore, and David Watkins.  Directors with one year remaining are Kathy Galbraith, Linda Rainey, Howard Salisbury, Wayne Scharf, and Helen Thomas.  The current executive remained as follows:

Howard Salisbury, President

Wayne Scharf, 1st Vice President

Kathy Galbraith, 2nd Vice President

David Watkins, Past President

Sherri Archdekin, Secretary

Moree Thomas, Treasurer

Members were reminded that 2007 fees are now due at $15 each and should be submitted to Moree Thomas.  The AGM was followed by a terrific luncheon for all members attending the various AGMs.
