Plans for the 2011 Connecticut Morgan Horse Show are well underway. The show will take place June 8-11, at the Eastern States Exposition Grounds in West Springfield, MA. Judging the main ring this year will be Kathleen Peeples and Cheri Barber, while the Working Hunter division will be judged by Carl Catani. Mickie Bowen will officiate the Carriage division and Lisa Cox will oversee the Dressage division.

New this year to the show will be an Academy division, held Saturday morning. Participation in the In-Hand division has been dwindling over the years at Morgan shows. To stimulate participation in the In-Hand divisions (not the specialty in hand classes) increased prize money has been offered and a free performance qualifier will be offered to each horse participating in the In-Hand division. Dressage pleasure and a ladies western pleasure championship have also been added to the schedule.

What would CMHS be without our parties? Wednesday evening will be the Make Your Own Sundae party, Thursday evening will be the "Progressive Think Outside the Box" party and fun classes, and Friday will be the annual Hall of Fame Party. Saturday afternoon, we’ll all gather to watch the Belmont race, and wrap up the show with coffee and cake on Saturday evening.

New this year will be the "Breakfast of Champions." The winner from each class will be put into a drawing with one number being pulled. That lucky winner will get breakfast delivered the next morning, by the show committee, to their barn.
