In January of 2015 Missy Hughes Smith graciously donated a clinic to the American Saddlebred Association of Maine for the banquet goers to bid on. The donation of the clinic raised over $600 for the saddlebred club! The clients of Hi Stepping Equestrian Center of Kennebunkport, Maine put forth the highest bid and won the clinic. Trainer of Hi Stepping, Theresa Guillemette, and clients eagerly waited for the homegrown Maine trainer to come back and teach them what she knows and share her talent and experience with them. The clinic took place April 16th, 2016 on a chilly Saturday morning. The lucky riders showed up bright and early, ready as ever to learn from some of the most knowledgeable trainers in the industry. The participants of the clinic, taught by Missy Hughes Smith and Lisa Hillmer, included Kristen Howe who shows in ASB Adult Country Pleasure, Tyler Hodgkins-Equitation, Kayleigh Mills on her friesian-Walk and Trot Equitation and Pleasure, Liz Alfiero-ASB Adult Show Pleasure, Bev Davis-ASB Adult Park Pleasure, and Jillian Gumb-also ASB Adult Park Pleasure. Missy and Lisa had quite a broad range of horses, riders and divisions to teach! They focused individually on each rider helping them make adjustments to get them ready to hit the ring this spring. Missy and Lisa portrayed such passion while teaching making an impact on every rider. It was a memorable learning experience for all involved. We are so privileged to be a part of the Saddlebred industry where no barn is too big, or too small to have the opportunities to learn from other trainers and work with each other as one big team. We want to thank Missy and Lisa once again for their time and expertise, the clinic was so beneficial to our barn members. Here’s to show season 2016! Good luck all!
