Candids of the Week
Sunday, November 23, 2014
Winners of six of eight classes this year, CH Callaway’s Born To Ride and Laura Dozer Elliott closed out the year as the Royal’s amateur stallion/gelding winners and Amateur Five-Gaited National Champions. This was one of several Autumn Hills combinations taking home National Championships.
Caretaker Pablo Guido joined McGee Bosworth after she directed Moonlight Memories to the Junior Exhibitor Five-Gaited 14-17 National Championship on Saturday night at the UPHA/American Royal. Bosworth also topped classes with CH I’m Something Wicked and CH Let’s Talk, closing out a successful junior exhibitor career.
Robert Gardiner retired World’s Champion and three-time Three-Gaited National Champion VHF Belle Epoque on Friday night of the American Royal. It was a great ceremony for the mare who has put a lot of excitement into the show ring over the past six and half seasons. In 62 classes she had 27 wins, 11 reserves, 8 thirds, and a handful of memorable ad lib moments.
Andy and Lynda Freseth joined Mary Gise after she won the Ladies Fine Harness qualifier with CH Our Brilliant Belle on Wednesday night in Kansas City. This marked the third year in a row the great mare has triumphed in this class.
Majestic Oaks’ Rose Alex Ververeli and Catherine Wheeler were second and first respectively in the AHHS Youth Medallion Road Pony 14-17 Finals. Kharbon Steel and Kentucky Hot Brown were there respective partners.
Tara Grom celebrated her fifth consecutive national champion title aboard CH With Style And Grace with trainer Todd Miles and proud dad Bob Grom. This year they captured the Ladies Amateur Three-Gaited National Champion while in years past they were the Amateur Three-Gaited National Champions.
