Kathie Dunn-Jacobsen – Foothill Ranch, CA

Kathie Dunn has been involved with American Saddlebreds her entire life. She currently shows her five-gaited horse and has been involved in many disciplines, including Show Pleasure, Western, Western Dressage, Hunter-Jumper, Side Saddle, Side Saddle Barrel Racing, Parade, and Ranch Work.  Kathie has been active in the promotion of American Saddlebreds across the United States;  she chaired the American Saddlebred presence at equine trade shows for over 15 years;  she and her horses are frequent participants in breed promotion events ranging from parades to 4-H to the 2010 World Equestrian Games.  She is a member of the ASHA’s Charter Club Council and serves as the Ambassador for Western Dressage, and is also the Chair of the ASHA Equine Welfare Committee.  Kathie has also been very active in American Saddlebred rescue efforts over the years.  She is a member of the SCASHA and the NCASHA.

Kathie owns a consulting firm, and advises a variety of clients (national and international) on training programs and organizational structure, and travels worldwide.  She has a high level of expertise in financial, organizational and communication skills, and has been involved in developing innovative programs for American Saddlebreds.

If elected to the ASHA Board, Kathie would be particularly interested in the technology and publications areas.  She understands the desire to maintain the American Saddlebred as the peacock of the show ring, along with the desire to showcase the versatility of the breed.  Kathie’s vision for the ASHA is to expand the market for American Saddlebreds and to include many disciplines beyond the traditional show ring.   Kathie does what it takes to promote the breed.
