The 111th World’s Championship Horse Show opened with County Fair Championships, Four-Year-Old Sweepstake and ASR Weanling and Yearling Futurities. Merrill Murray and Cosmic Charm won the Kentucky County Fair Fine Harness Championship for Grand Vin Stables.
Derrick Westbrook and Susan Hanna celebrated Westbrook's win aboard Soquili’s Manalito in the Kentucky County Fair Three-Gaited Championship. Westbrook has been campaigned the 2012 UPHA Three-Gaited Classic Grand Champion all season at great shows including Shelbyville, Mercer County, Lexington, Rock Creek, Burlington and KASPA.
McGee Bosworth had quite a morning winning both splits of the junior exhibitor five-gaited show pleasure under the direction of Mary and Evan Orr. She won the first split aboard CH Sunken Treasure and returned minutes after making that victory pass aboard CH I’m Something Wicked for the second win.
Steve Wheeler won the Junior Three-Gaited Over 15.2 with Macadamia on Monday night and was congratulated by Mary Jane Glasscock-Fitzpatrick.
Directed by David and Kristen Cater, Kate Foy rode Soquili’s Curious George to the Ladies Amateur Three-Gaited 15.2 & Under title in her first ride on the green shavings.
Antonio Hernandez presented Fancy Cat SS to the ASB Weanling Breeders blue ribbon on Tuesday afternoon. Owned and bred by Toni Nastali, Fancy Cat SS is by Tomcat (SA) and out of Gettin’ Fancy who is also the dam of CH I’m McDreamy and Designed By Fancy SS.
Callaway’s No More Mr. Nice Guy and Phyllis Brookshire captured the Amateur Five-Gaited Stallion/Gelding title. They were joined back at the tack room by Alonso Jimenez, Don Brookshire and Matt Shiflet.
Scott Snider was honored in center ring for his many years of service to the World’s Championship Horse Show.
The Majestic Oaks 14-17 exhibitors swept the top four spots in their road pony qualifier. The team includes Alex Ververeli, Sloan Fleig, Catherine Wheeler and Cheyenne Mabey.
Leslie and Hannah Kelley, David Rand, Priscilla Marconi and Danny Kelley with Double Or Nuttin', Hannah’s Junior Exhibitor Show Pleasure Driving World’s Champion in her first Louisville appearance. Priscilla was the former owner of Double Or Nuttin’.
Ruth Gimpel and Ali DeGray celebrated after DeGray captured the Hackney Pony Stake with Heartland High Tech making it the third victory pass in a row for the team. They also earned a pair of blues at Lexington last month in their first show of the season.
Caroline Rainbolt-Forbes and Mark Turner celebrated Caroline’s World’s Championship win in the Youth Roadster To Bike with Thunder Up.
In only their fourth drive together, Janet Sterba and Caraway’s New York Minute won the Amateur Fine Harness Championship. They were joined by Katy Sterba and Andrea Wolkoff joined them back at the tack room.
Raymond Shively and Mark Turner were first and second respectively in the 11-entry USTA Roadster To Bike Classic with War Horse and Thunder Up. Thunder Up also won the Youth Roadster To Bike Class earlier in the day with Caroline Rainbolt-Forbes.
Joined by trainer Lynda Freseth and mom Susan James, Elizabeth James Lipscomb won the Show Pleasure Driving World’s Champions Of Champions title with CH Irresistible Design.
Closing out the Friday night session, Nancy-Leigh Fisher put on a clinic with My Wonder to win the World’s Champion Of Champions Ladies Amateur Five-Gaited title. She was joined by Andy and Lynda Freseth as well as daughter Alice Unger and granddaughter My-My Singh.
Maisie Benfield captured the Kentucky Saddle Seat Equitation for the fourth year in a row under the direction of Zubrod Stables.
After being crowned the World's Champion of Champions title for the Walk & Trot Saddle Seat Equitation 9 Year Olds, Alayna Applegate, under the direction of Shelley Fisher of Sugar Knoll Farm was congratulated by family before heading back to the barn.
Susan Aschenbrenner was congratulated by trainer Amanda Simpson after CH Callaway's Cumulus was crowned the World Champion in division I of Country Pleasure Driving.
The World’s Championship Horse Show closed with Peter Cowart and CH The Daily Lottery winning the Five-Gaited World’s Grand Championship following a five-horse workout. Owner Chris Hawley, Kim, Peter and Camille Cowart were the winning connections.
