High Point Report...part 4




Road Pony Under Saddle

The Road Pony Under Saddle division was dominated by K&J’s The Harley Sportster. Sportster and Britt Gentry earned four firsts, three seconds (including Louisville), two thirds and a fifth to capture the High Point Report Championship with 159 points in 11 performances. They sailed in with a 43 point margin.

Sugar Daddy and Crystal Harmon picked up wins at ASAC, Asheville and the Dallas Fall Classic in their nine performances to earn 116 points and the reserve high point championship.

Allison Smith directed Aarobrook's The Aviator to the third place finish in the points with 99 points earned in nine performances. Highlights included wins at Raleigh Spring Premier and Charlotte Charity.

Heartland Masterpiece and Reebok Lawlis made seven trips to the show ring to earn 68 points and fourth place in the points standings. Wins at Mid Summer Classic, Dixie Cup, Pro Am and Southeastern highlighted their season.

License to Kill and Michelle Heron made three trips to the ring. Mike Herron took a turn as well, and so did Dawson Smith. In five performances License to Kill earned 64 points, enough to secure a fifth place finish.

The rest of the top ten in the points race were Rowdy Yank and Sarah Sessoms, Island Fever and Renee Zubrod, Blockbuster DV and Ashlinn Thommes, Seamair’s Nobility and Richmond DeHart, Silent Partner and Aliyah Asch, and Truly So Lovely with Megan Ryan.

Open Hackney Pony

Fancy Ribbons bested a field of competitors by 30 points to earn the High Point Report Championship. Randi Wightman directed Fancy Ribbons to the Hackney Pony Mare World’s Championship and the reserve world’s grand championship in addition to four other blue ribbon performances and five other reserve performances. They earned 178 points to win the division.

Oliver Twist and Debbie Koning enjoyed wins in nine of their 10 performances to earn 148 points and the reserve finish in the High Point Report. Nabucco and Mary Campbell also enjoyed a winning season, with four firsts in their 7 performances, to total 128 points and the third place finish.

Heartland Elise and Mary McClean hit the ring seven times and had wins at Midwest, Shelbyville and the Kentucky Fall Classic in addition to earning the reserve world’s championship in the Hackney Pony Mares. This earned them 119 points to secure fourth place in the points standings.

Heartland Candidate and Sandra Surber earned 118 points in nine performances with wins at Santa Barbara, Del Mar and UPHA Chapter 1 to claim fifth place in the points race.

Rounding out the top ten were Kentucky Raine LF and Luc Boileau, On The Mark and Larry Ella, Cadet’s Excellent Charm and Roger Lucas, Breezeland’s Moon N Stars and Charles Leonard, Romeo’s Shadow LF and Dawn Deltorchio, and The Final Contender with Gib Marcucci.

Amateur/Ladies Hackney Pony

Royal Canadian is our biggest points leader in the High Point Report, besting the field by nearly 100 points. Muffy Ernster and Royal Canadian entered the ring 16 times, nearly twice most of their competitors, and won with a blue ribbon 13 times.

Heartland Rainsong and Jackie Stred won the world’s championship and world’s grand championship in 2004 earning them 60 of their 160 points. The remainder came from wins at Lexington, Midwest, and Germantown giving them an undefeated season and second place in the High Point Report standings.

Heartland Ringmaster and Randi Wightman also made eight trips to the show ring and won 116 points for their efforts giving them a third place finish in the points race. Mercedes Ben and Charlotte Carter earned 113 points and a fourth place finish with a total of 10 performances. Highlights included wins at New York State Breeders, Roanoke Valley, Bonnie Blue, and Children’s Benefit.

Oliver Twist and Debbie Koning also won points in the open category, but they showed another five times in the amateur/ladies category to earn them 112 points and a fifth place finish here. Highlights in amateur/ladies competition included two reserve performances at Louisville and wins at Lexington and Blue Ridge.

Remaining top ten champions were Showcase and Amanda Ella, Heartland Elegant Dancer and Kathy Buente, Romeo’s Copy Cat LF and David LaSalle, AllySeazie and Sally Schumacher, Monte Carlo and Mary Kirkton, Kentucky Raine LF and Luc Boileau, and Romeo’s Warrior LF with Marjorie Kenney.

Open Harness Pony

Conqueror’s Colleen LF and Mary Ellen Golich topped the High Point Report in the open harness pony division. Under the direction of Rick Wallen, this team won classes at Mid America Mane Event, ASAW Summer Fun, and Midwest. They also earned a fourth place finish at Louisville to earn them 166 points and the top spot in the points standings.

Night Editor and Lee Hudson also enjoyed a prosperous year with 135 points earned in nine performances including a reserve at Louisville.

K&J’s Lovely Thoughts earned 131 points in eleven outings both with Gean Cagle and Roger Lucas to earn the third place finish in the High Point Report.

Mary McClean and Shake Don’t Stir only showed six times this year, but they did so with a win every time including two victories at Louisville, giving them 130 points for a fourth place finish in the points race.

Heidi Bowie and Heartland Triple Crown took the fifth place finish in the standings with 122 points earned in nine performances. Highlights included wins at Kentucky Spring Premier, Southeastern Charity, Kentucky Fall Classic and Blue Ridge.

Other top ten champions included Seamair Spectacular, Twin Willows Dimitri, Mark of Elegance, Tina Turner, and Creation’s Wind Star.

Amateur/Ladies Harness Pony

Seamair Spectacular earned 118 points in the open category, but also earned another 220 points in the amateur/ladies category to top the competition. Owner Todd Gordon showed the spectacular pony twice during the year including to a win at Illinois State Fair, but Frank Boyd, Bill Boyd, Cindy Ireland and Tabitha Ireland all took turns showing the consistent pony. In the amateur/ladies division, they earned seven blue ribbons and four reserves.

Mary McClean showed Joan Jett eight times this season to earn 180 points with wins at Midwest, Lexington and the American Royal as well as two victories at Louisville. It was an undefeated season for the well teamed combination.

Conqueror’s Colleen LF and Mary Ellen Golich earned 132 points in amateur and ladies competition to claim third in this high point category after winning the open division. In the two divisions combined, the duo earned almost 300 points in 19 performances.

Heidi Bowie also earned points in the open division, but in amateur/ladies competition the pair earned 131 points in eight performances. That was enough to secure them a fourth place finish in the high point report. Highlights included wins at Rock Creek, Kentucky Spring Premier and All American Classic.

Nacho Mama and Christy Gantley earned 118 points in six performances including wins at Mid America Mane Event and the American Royal. They also earned third and fifth place finishes at Louisville this season.

Rounding out the top ten high point champions were It’s About Time and Stephany Monteleone, Vindicator and Karen Waldron, Heartland Firefly and Garland Presswood, Creation's Windstar and Irv Udell, Namesakes Secret and Sally Schumacher, Heartland Expectation and Karen Frickey, and Seamair Sensation with Gene Gallmeier.

Hackney/Harness Pleasure Driving

Bob Anderson did it again in 2004. He and Pacifico's Standing Ovation topped the High Point Report for the second year in a row. The pair also earned more points than any other entry in a single division of the High Point Report in 2004. Three hundred and seven points in 16 shows included wins at Louisville, Wisconsin Futurity, Madison, Milwaukee, Mid America Mane Event, Midwest, Tanbark, Blue Ridge and the American Royal.

Early Edition and Jane Mueller also showed 16 times, earning 279 points, including a reserve world’s championship. Other wins included All American Classic, Lexington Junior League, Illinois State Fair and Oklahoma Centennial.

The third place spot in the High Point Report belonged to Heartland Hightime and Rita Camp. This team earned wins at North Carolina State Fair, Charlotte Charity, ASAC, Chattanooga/Cleveland, and J.D. Massey.

Among the Stars and Janet DiVecchio earned a fourth place finish with 191 points earned in 18 performances. Highlights included wins at Mid America Signature and Madison Classic.

One More Time and Anna Marie Knipp enjoyed a stellar season including a world’s championship and world’s grand championship, not to mention wins at UPHA Chapter 5, St. Louis, and the Illinois State Fair. Together they earned 174 points in only nine performances.

The remaining top ten champions included CC Ryder, Cover Story, Callisto, Heartland Entitled, Heartland Special Special, and Lightning Up.

Junior Exhibitor Hackney/Harness Pleasure Driving

Topping the High Point Report in the junior exhibitor pleasure driving division are Heartland Parade Time and Kelsey Herbert. In addition to winning a world’s championship and world’s grand championship, this team also claimed wins at UPHA Chapter 5, River Ridge, Midwest, Lexington, and the American Royal. All in all they earned 158 points in eight performances, giving them the title of High Point Report Champions.

Kingsley Acclaim and Cayla McKibbage earned 131 points in their nine outings including wins at Madison, Mid America Mane Event, Wisconsin Futurity and Oshkosh Charity. This earned them the title of reserve high point champions.

Paul Pippin and Portrait of a Lady earned the third place finish in the High point Report with 111 points in six performances. Wins at Lawrenceburg and the Royal were highlights as was a reserve world’s championship.

Seamair’s Dear Sir and Max Kaplan enjoyed a terrific season including a big win at Midwest and a second and third place finish at Louisville.

Lightning Up and Patsy Loeb earned fifth place in the standings with 103 points earned in eight performances. Highlights included wins at Mid America Spring and ASAW Summer Fun.

The remaining top ten champions were Goin My Way and Alyssa Lopez, Oh Happy Day and Lilly Birch, Hawkwatch and Sarah Werry, The Joker and Michael Bacon, Seamair’s Awesome Dancer and Julie DeVault, and Callisto with Aliyah Asch.

Saddle Seat Equitation 17 & Under

Michelle Krentz is showing her prowess in equitation at an early age. Showing as a fifteen year old, Krentz claimed the High Point Report Equitation Championship with 267 points earned in 18 performances across the country. Consistently in the top three, Krentz earned wins this season at Wisconsin Futurity, ASAW Summer Fun, Mid America Mane Event and the American Royal.

Lisa McClaren also showcased her equitation talents in 18 appearances including blue ribbon performances at Mid America Spring, All American Classic, Indianapolis, ASAW Summer Fun, Milwaukee Spring and St. Louis. She earned 230 points, enough to secure a High Point Report Reserve Championship.

Sarah Taylor won the 17 year old saddle seat equitation class at Louisville this year, and also won classes at Dayton, Asheville, and Lexington to earn 226 points. Those points gave her third place in the High Point Report.

Ashley Alden was right behind with 224 points for a fourth place finish. Alden showed 15 times to earn wins at Midwest, UPHA 5, Madison, Oshkosh and the American Royal.

Mandy Martin was also close behind with 218 points for a fifth place finish. Highlights from the year included a reserve world’s championship and wins at Lexington, All American Classic, Indianapolis, and Pro Am.

Rounding out the top ten champions were Katelan Elizabeth Crabtree, Jordan Underwood, Shana Jo Brown, Jessica Saft and Whitney Irwin.

Saddle Seat Equitation 14 & Under

Twelve year old Rachel Machamer enjoyed a terrific season, earning 240 points to secure the High Point Report Championship. She also won the twelve-year-old world’s championship and was third in the Junior Saddle Seat Equitation World’s Grand Championship. Other highlights included wins at Rock Creek, Lexington, Asheville, Pro Am, Blue Ridge and the American Royal.

Ellen Medley Wright earned the reserve finish in the younger age division garnering 216 points in 12 performances. A win at Louisville for Kentucky Riders 13 and Under, plus a reserve world’s championship in the eleven-year-old age group added to wins at Asheville, Oklahoma Centennial, Midwest and St. Louis to make for a season to remember.

Brittany McGinnis won both the Junior Saddle Seat Equitation World’s Grand Championship and the eleven-year-old world’s championship. In seven other performances McGinnis won classes at Lexington, Asheville, Kentucky Fall Classic and the American Royal to earn a total of 179 points and a third place finish in the High Point Report.

Scott Pisarik earned 165 points this season in 13 performances including two wins, five seconds, two thirds, two fourths and two fifths. His busy season paid off with a fourth place finish in the High Point Report.

Fifth place in the High Point Report went to Amber Lynn Lowry. She earned wins at Roanoke, UPHA Chapter 5, Indianapolis, Kentucky Spring Premier, and St. Louis. Eleven trips to the ring resulted in 151 points.

The rest of the top ten champions were Alexa McWilliams, Callie Smith, Chelsea Jo Roby, Lindsey Landrum and Brianna Saunders.

Saddle Seat Equitation Walk and Trot

Kelsey McDonald showed an unbelievable 20 times for 2004 in walk and trot classes to earn 302 points and the High Point Report Championship. Two victories at Louisville were highlights and McDonald also won classes at Lexington, Dayton, Kentucky Spring Premier, Kentucky Fall Classic, River Ridge, and Rock Creek.

Christina Collis finished in reserve with 280 points in 18 performances. She also won a world’s championship, in the nine-year-old age group, and won other classes at May Classic, All American Classic, Mercer County, Asheville, Indianapolis, and Kentucky Fall Classic.

Abigail Mutrux won both eight and under classes at Louisville in addition to wins at MHSA Kick Off, Tom Bass Classic, St. Louis and the American Royal. She earned 196 points to secure a third place finish in the points race.

Ashley Bradbury earned 194 points and a fourth place finish in 20 performances in the show ring. Bradbury earned 12 blue ribbons in her 20 trips.

Kimberly Ginsberg made 11 trips to the ring and earned 168 points including wins at Raleigh Spring, Lexington, and UPHA Chapter 14 Spring Premiere.

Rounding out the top ten champions were Nathan Stein, Logan Gregory, Spencer Alderman, Claire Talley, Andrew Slater and Hannah Fuller.

Adult Saddle Seat Equitation

Dorian Stulberg Anderson earned the top spot in the High point Report with 212 points garnered in 14 performances. Anderson won classes in 12 of her 14 performances making her the winner of the division.

Deann Dinelli earned the reserve finish in the High Point Report with 183 points earned in 13 performances. Highlights included wins at National Pleasure Show, Madison and ASAW Summer Fun.

Sara Van Galder finished in the third place spot with 134 points from nine performances this season. Wins at seven of those nine shows gave her a strong finish.

Morgan Wolin showed six times in 2004 in the division to earn five blues and a reserve UPHA Adult National Championship at Louisville. Her 107 points to propelled her to the fourth place finish.

Jenna Culligan earned 106 points in nine performances to secure the fifth spot in the High Point Report. One of her show season highlights was a win at Oshkosh.

Rounding out the top ten high point winners were Katie Ryan, Brooke Jacobs, Becky Dostal, Kathy Wright, and Austin Eversman.

Pleasure Equitation

Pleasure equitation was extremely competitive in the High Point Report this year. Jessica Moctezuma came out on top with 256 points earned in 18 trips to the show ring. Fifteen of those 18 trips resulted in blue ribbons and the remaining three were reserve finishes.

Lindsay Kellner competed 19 times to earn 252 points. She too had a strong record winning eight blue ribbons and six reserves.

Courtney Ledo earned 242 points in 16 performances to secure the third place finish in the High Point Report. Eight wins and four reserves highlighted her season.

Kelsey Nicole Smith enjoyed a stellar equitation season this year winning a National Final in saddle seat equitation at the American Royal. But her regular field of competition is pleasure equitation and here she earned 226 points in 15 performances. Her 13 blue ribbons helped secure the fourth spot.

Jourdan Schaye finished in fifth place in the High Point Report with 199 points earned in 14 performances. Highlights include wins at National Pleasure Show, Des Moines Springfest, Milwaukee Spring, and Midwest Charity.

Rounding out the pleasure equitation top ten were Kristen Jurkynas, Kristin Nielsen, Eleanor Watkins, Danielle McGarry, Anna Jenstead and Victoria McHenry.

In Hand

The in hand category includes futurity and in hand classes from across the country. This year’s winner Mafia Mistress showed 11 times to earn 184 points and the High Point Report Championship. Competing in the Wisconsin Futurity, the Indiana Futurity, the Illinois Futurity and the Ohio Futurity, highlights of the season included wins at the Ohio State Fair in the Saddlebred Futurity of Ohio.

That’s My Point competed in Wisconsin, Illinois and Ohio to earn three firsts, one second and four fourths to earn 134 points and the reserve finish.

Silver Harbor placed second and third in the Kentucky Futurity held at Louisville in addition to winning at ASHAV, Blue Gray and North Carolina for a stellar season and a third place finish in the High Point Report.

Royal Crest’s Stones From Tiffany's competed in yearling futurities in Wisconsin, Illinois and Kentucky. Highlights of the season included a win at the Wisconsin Futurity.

In Thy Majesty’s Name also competed in Wisconsin and Kentucky. In five trips to the show ring, this yearling filly won four times and placed fifth in the ASHA Kentucky Amateur Yearling Futurity.

Rounding out the in hand winners were Gotta Love Her, Golden Market, Winsdown New Fostoria, A Made Man and Can I Phly.
